Alabama State Sovereignty Bill Introduced

The government’s attempt to take over health care is on the forefront of everyone’s thoughts right now, but what else can we do besides attend town halls, email, and make telephone calls? Well, several states have been busy passing 10th Amendment legislation in order to stop the government from interfering with State’s Rights. The 10th Amendment states, “The powers not delegated to the United States by the Constitution, nor prohibited by it to the States, are reserved to the States respectively, or to the people.” During the last session, Alabama House Representative Mac Gipson of Prattville, introduced HJR 403 to address Alabama’s rights under the 10th Amendment. Since they are currently in a special session, Gipson reintroduced it, and its new number is HJR 10 (AL State Sovereignty Bill). In short, since Health Care is not stated in the Constitution, it is up to Alabama to determine whether we have a socialized health care plan. Read the bill on Dale Jackson’s Blog.
