Alabama Tea Party Recap

Alabama was well represented on in the Tax Tea Parties last week. I have been able to confirm 17 protests around the state. More importantly, each congressional district was represented, which sends a load message to Washington DC. Here are eight cities that held a protest, but were not confirmed until after the event occurred: Cullman, Dothan, Florence, Fort Payne, Greenville, Guntersville, Hueytown, and Wetumpka. Great job Alabama!

Paul Ryan Speaks Up for the People

Representative Paul Ryan of Wisconsin gave a speech in Congress yesterday, and I thought it was a fantastic summary of the Tea Party Movement (See Video Below). I wish that guy could represent me in Congress.

CNN Boycott

A couple of month ago, as the Tax Tea Party movement began to gain steam; I wondered who would be the first in line to be boycotted by the group. Well after all the crude teabagging remarks by the likes of Anderson Cooper and the reporter who attacked a protester instead of reporting the news (see video below), the answer is CNN. A Facebook group called, CNN Offensive (Nationwide Sponsor Boycott) has been created to address the need for an apology for irresponsible journalism. Join the cause, because the Tea Party Movement can have a strong voice if we speak as one.

More Fairhope Tea Party Photos

The photos and video I have seen out of the Fairhope Tea Party have been magnificent. Gene and the gang put together a great event, and the location was gorgeous. Check out these tea party photos on Flickr. Below is a YouTube video of the event. Keep up the good work in Baldwin County.

Huntsville Tea Party Recap

It you didn’t have a chance to make the April 15th Tea Party in Huntsville, Alabama, below you will find videos to recap the event.  The last video is a speech by Mo Brook, who may be a front runner for Congress in 2010.

Conservative Talk Shows in Alabama

I feel very fortunate to live in a red state like Alabama, because I can turn on the radio and listen to conservative talk radio from border to border. If you want to know what left-wing radio sounds like, you easily can find one on the internet. I did that once, and all I heard were two stoners talking about how good smoking marijuana was for you. I’ve lived in the Huntsville area for 8 years, and the quality of talent WVNN brings in to our market has always amazed me. By the way, Sean Hannity got his start in Huntsville. Currently, the morning host at WVNN, Dale Jackson, has done a wonderful job promoting conservative values in the Tennessee Valley. However, Republicans should not come looking for a free pass on his show. He recently roasted Republican Hale Irwin for his character and legislative passed, and I must admit it was hilarious.  Here’s the audio of the interview.
As the Tea Party/Conservative movement gains momentum, I believe it is important for us to support the fine conservative talent this state fosters on its radio stations. If you have a radio station that carries conservative talk radio in your area, leave a comment along with a link and shout out to your favorite on air personalities.

The Party’s Over, Now What?

Thousands of Alabamians attended Tea Parties this week from the Tennessee Valley to the Gulf Coast. Now the question is what’s next? Here are steps you can take over the next few days or weeks to keep the momentum going. By the way, it looks like there are eight more events scheduled between now and November 2010, so keep a look out for other opportunities to participate.

7 Steps to Continue the Cause

1. Call your Congressional representative in Washington DC, State representative in Montgomery, and your local officials to let them know you want them to vote against more taxes and will support lowering taxes.

2. Put your elected officials on speed dial. Let’s face it if you have to look up their number every time you’re angry you will never call. Besides look at some of the people you already have listed in your cell phone, who you never call anyway.

3. Stay informed with newsletters which provide valuable information to support your stance, which will allow you to articulate your views to others. Here are some of my favorites. (Heritage.org, taxteaparty.com, AlabamaTeaParty.net)

4. Sign up at taxdayteaparty.com by rsvping: http://taxdayteaparty.com/rsvp/. This helps your local organizer be able to collaborate and keep in touch with you after April 15th. (Local organizers can access user data based on ZIP code tags)

5. Sign up for text messages from Tax Day Tea Party. To receive nationwide updates on the Tea Parties by text message, text “teaparty” to 69302!

6. Get involved with social media such as Facebook, Twitter, My Space, and Comment to Online news stories. It is a great way to network with like minded people, and allows your voice to be heard daily. Also, while online, invite younger people to the events in your area.

7. Buy a copy of Liberty and Tyranny and the Fair Tax. Liberty and Tyranny by Mark Levin is on the best sellers list and is billed as a conservative manifesto. While The Fair Tax has been around for a couple of years, it is now being seen as a viable alternative to our current tax code. I also suggest you buy one for a teacher, so we can improve the level of education our children are receiving. You can buy them on Amazon by going to the links below.
